It was such a nice day today, not counting the wind, that I took a Sunday drive.
So out to the desert I go.
And up to the top of the Big Butte.
I like to drive up there at least once a year, even though it is a really rough and rocky road.
Up on top the mountain had a cloud cap for part of the time I was up there. A cloud cap is formed when the wind forces the air over the top at just the right atmosphereic conditions.
In between wisps of the cloud cap, you can see a long way, from up past Idaho Falls to down below American falls, and over to Arco.
One thing you know, if there is a cloud cap, it is cold and very windy up there. Of course the cloud cap blew away just as soon as I left the top, which is at 7560 feet. about 3000 feet higher than here at Blackfoot.
