Some pictures taken of the American Falls Dam on the Snake River at American Falls, Idaho. Last September.

Behind this fence is the tunnel they used to divert the river around the construction when they built the dam.

There are two of these tunnels, at one time you could walk into them quite a ways, I am not sure where they actually start. The outlets are just a little way below the dam

The old power house structure. The dam and everything around here was rebuilt, and raise higher at least once.

About a half mile downstream of the dam and falls.

Working on my backlog of pictures these from september at Cape Perpetua on the Oregon seacoast.

Not sure the total time of this sequence, the camera records the time it files the picture not the time it is taken. It was 5 seconds between first and last file, but the camera took them at about the rate of three pictures a second.

Just some miscellaneous pictures hanging around in the pictures library in the folder waiting to be posted to the blog. Nothing important or even interesting.

The canal river check dam along the blackfoot green belt. I always take a picture just to keep track of the river flow.

Been going to take a picture of ""Martha" since the EISF when she was in a bikini in the parade.

A couple of old buildings in Richfield, Idaho. This little town has been here a long time.

It is amazing how many lava rock buildings they made way back in the early days. Even more amazing is how they managed to get them so nice and flat.

Been a dry year for snow around here. I found quite a bit as I drove through the Craters of the Moon area on my way to Jackpot Nevada.

This is pretty much the most snow I have seen this year around the area. Not including the higher up mountains, of course.

This is about 5500 feet.

Took my afternoon walk along the Blackfoot River canyon rim, just below where Wolverine Creek comes in.

no green this time of year, just greys and browns

Found this sprung steel trap, staked down under a sagebrush.

I could not pull up the stake, no idea how long this has been here.

Love the changes of the seasons along this river.

Took my afternoon walk along McTucker Creek, this is always a pretty spot regardless of the time of year.

Yesterday afternoon walk, saw not too much, but it was a nice day.

Started at twin bridges fishing access, where old highway 26 and railroiad bridges cross the Snake River.

Beaver felled tree, this is within the city boundries.

Amazing how much effort and skill a bird puts into it's nest.

I think this really big pile of wood may be a beaver house made during the high water running of the river. It is now high and dry. I wonder if they use this as a spring flood only house.?????

At least I think the name of this small Falls is the Crystal Springs Falls. I believe this is the water from the Crystal Springs spring just as it falls into the American Falls reservoir. It is located about 2 1/2 miles south of Springfield Idaho.

Last September on a drive along Bone road from Idaho Falls to Blackfoot. After Bone road went up and over Sellers Creek Road, Wolverine pass.

When the water in the American Falls reservoir is used for irrigation and recedes it usually leaves a coating of scum on the plants and ground, I think it is some kind of dead moss.

I really don't know what it is, just guessing.

Yesterday's drive to Jackpot saw a Dust storm mixed with a snow shower. Just a little bit unusual.

The dust was more of a problem than the snow.

On the American falls reservoir where the water is sometimes and sometimes is not, there grows some kind 0f plant on some of the small trees that manage to survive the rise and fall of the water level.

I first thought it was just moss snagged on the tree. Note high water mark is above the plant.

A closer look shows it is a live growing plant. I wonder if it is a parasite plant similar to Mistletoe.

I assume it is still alive, even if it is very dry.

Finally the last of the pictures I took on my Friday afternoon walk, about three days ago.

I do not know what kind of bird makes these nests in the willows. They are about the size of a soft ball.

Looking at the entry hole it must be a fairly small bird.

I presume this is somebody's horse, it likes to hide in the brush and willows just like a moose.

Here are some pictures of the short distance when the Bear River runs through Wyoming as it comes out of Utah and then Back into Utah. This is close to Evanston WY.

The next time the Bear river leaves Utah it goes into Wyoming then into Idaho.

Late October, on a drive through Northern Utah along UT150, 89 and 30. Basicly following the Bear River drainage from east of Heber City to the Bear Lake.

The Bear River starts in Utah, enters Wyoming, passes Evanston then enters Utah again. Then back into wyoming, then into Idaho and the Bear Lake, which is half in Idaho and half in Utah.

Provo river on one side Bear river on the other side of summit.

After Bear Lake the river goes up by Soda Springs, Idaho then south to the Great Salt Lake in Utah.

Some weather conditions that I found on my drive from Blackfoot, Idaho to Dillon, Montana today.

First I had to detour around this dust storm, they had Interstate 15 closed due to blowing dust.

Just got back on the interstate and rain started hitting the windshield.

Looking back to the south east the sunshine was breaking through the clouds.

(the shiney reflection in the foreground was the car top, camera stuck out the sunroof.)

A few miles farther down the road and I was into blowing snow, and sunshine ahead.

All in all a rather interesting day weather wise.

Yesterday morning on Hec eta Beach, near Florence Oregon. MY sunrise walk on the beach.

Recent storms had the ocean waves in a turmoil.

This evening on He ceta Beach Oregon. Near Florence.

It just quit raining, first time in three days.

The first Dungenous crab I ever saw that was on the beach and still alive.

Todays drive from Nyssa to Burns Oregon. Roads were dry and I saw a whole lot of not much.

This is typical of most of the drive.

Malhuer River runs along most of the route.

Lot of brown this time of year.

This was such a pretty place to visit. I understand they really go all out with christmas lights about christmas time.

It was a beautiful june day along the Snake River.

Some of the thousand springs can be seen across the river.

Drove through the City of Rocks national Reserve today. Located in southern Idaho, near Oakley and Almo.

West entrance, SE of Oakley, Idaho off of Birch Creek road. (I think every county in Idaho has a Birch Creek Road in it.)

Two months ago on the road between Ely Nevada and Wendover, a lot of long straight road.

Flat country, dry grass.

West Wendover, Nevada other end of town is Wendover, Utah.

This July, a drive through Shoshone Basin, down from Rock Creek to Rogerson Idaho. This is south of Twin Falls Idaho and north of Jackpot Nevada.

Dusty dirt road, but beautiful country

Lots of wild flowers this year.

Lots of cattle grazing in this area.
